While I'm Thinking About It

We are living in a post-Project Wonderful world.

Nearly ten years ago, I caved to the inevitable and tossed a couple of Project Wonderful-powered ad blocks here on TRU-Life Adventures. While I dislike terrible ads as much as anyone, I loved their approach, with the no tracking and ability to hand-approve each and every new ad that came around.

Also no pop-ups, no pop-unders, no auto-playing video, and no interstital screens.

Unfortunately, last week they turned their ad servers off, because trying to avoid the ever-escalating arms race between the bad advertising companies (you know, everyone else) and the ad blocking plugin developers just ended up with their ads being blocked.

Thing is, every layout I've used for this site over the past near-decade has had ad space built into the design. And after just launching a new look, I'm not so eager to start again.

So instead, in case you haven't noticed already, I'm filling the space another way. I'm starting with Ko-fi as a tip jar. There's no obligation*, but if you'd like to toss a few bucks my way I'd certainly appreciate it.

Also off to the side is an Amazon link to the first book in Traci Tyne Hilton's latest mystery series. Just a straight-up link, I'm not an Amazon affiliate and will get nothing if you choose to pick it up. She doesn't even know I've done it, not until she next stops by.

Up top, I'm still trying to decide what to do.

*TRU-Life Adventures has always ever been free to read, and that's not changing. Besides, I didn't make much from PW.
