While I'm Thinking About It

Defending "Disposable"

Vital background information is available here.

Got all that? Good. I have a bit of a problem with the phrase "disposable cell phone." It's a phrase that's also used on CSI quite a bit, and always with a hefty dose of condescension in the actors's voices--the people who buy such phones are obviously up to no good, because who with nothing to hide wouldn't want to pay way too much money every month for features I wouldn't end up using anyway?

I just gave it away, didn't I?

Anyway, my reasons for going prepaid are twofold: first, because I'm not tied down with a contract, I'm free to fire my cell phone company at any time. It's happened once already, when TracFone refused to transfer my phone number to a new, upgraded model (with what turned out to be considerably worse voice quality).Second, with as little as I use it, it works out to something like five bucks a month for (given how little I use it) unlimited talktime. If you represent a phone company and think you can beat that deal, please contact me. My email's right up there in the dark blue bar.
